With over 40 years of experience, Abdullah Abd. Hamid is a seasoned professional in corporate leadership, private equity, venture capital, and strategic turnaround management. His career includes leading major transformation initiatives, overseeing high-value investments, and driving corporate restructuring efforts across multiple industries.
As Executive Director of Investments and Special Projects at Khazanah Nasional Berhad, he played a key role in the GLC Transformation Programme, developing the Transformation Manual to enhance the performance of government-linked corporations. As President and COO of MESDAQ, he successfully established Malaysia’s high-growth and technology-oriented stock exchange, integrating it into the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange ahead of schedule.
Abdullah has extensive experience in investment and fund management, having served as a Director at CIMB-Khazanah Agro Teroka and a member of CIMB Private Equity’s Investment Committee, overseeing RM180 million in venture capital funding. As Chairman of ValueCap Sdn Bhd’s Investment Committee, he managed a RM10 billion fund owned by Khazanah Nasional, Kumpulan Wang Amanah Pencen, and Permodalan Nasional Berhad.
His expertise extends to corporate advisory roles with Tata Consultancy Services Malaysia and Turnaround Managers Inc., where he worked on large-scale privatization projects, including the RM3.4 billion North-South Expressway. With an MBA in Finance from Wharton and a Bachelor’s in Engineering from Loughborough University, Abdullah combines strategic insight, financial expertise, and turnaround leadership, making him a highly sought-after advisor for investment funds, corporate boards, and high-impact transformation projects.
